Our High Holiday Offerings
-
Rosh Hashanah Dinner and Seder
Wed, Oct 2 | 6:30pm - 8:30pm | In person
This event is for Jewish-identifying folks to welcome in a serene and joyful start to the Jewish New Year over a table of good food and the simanim (symbols) of renewal and auspiciousness.
-
Tashlich Service for Palestine and Oneg Shabbat
Fri, Oct 4 | 6:30pm - 7:30pm | In person (outdoors)
Join together in the reflective ritual of letting go of the burdens of the previous year. Tashlich means to cast away, to physically release that which we need to let go of. This year we will pay special attention to the current crisis in Palestine as we move into the new year. We will join together for a short period in song, prayer, and reflection followed by personal time along the water releasing stones or leaves into the water. We will have an Oneg Shabbat service with food.
-
October 7 Processing Space
Mon, Oct 7 | 6:00pm - 7:30pm | Virtual
Join our processing space to gather together in community, mourn the loss of life that has occurred, and process our experiences over the last year. This space is open to any wishing to join, but will be centering Jewish experiences and emotions in relationship to the October 7 attacks and the subsequent tragedies since.
-
Kol Nidre Service
Fri, Oct 11 | 5:30pm - 7:30pm | In person (outdoors)
Kol Nidre is the opening prayer and the evening service that begins the holiest day of the Jewish year: Yom Kippur. It is known as the Day of Atonement. The service is filled with spirited song and prayer with significant movement. It can be a very emotionally-filled service. We will be livestreaming a service from another justice-centered synagogue.
-
Ne’ilah Service and Break/Fast Meal
Sat, Oct 12 | 5:00pm - 6:30pm | In person (outdoors)
The culmination of the new year’s cycle comes with the “closing of the gates." This is the last service before Yom Kippur ends. We will gather to sing supplications and prayers. After sundown, we will nosh on bagels and take some rest after a whirlwind journey through the soul.
-
Sukkah Decorating and Shabbat Dinner
Fri, Oct 18 | 5:30pm - 9:00pm | In person (outdoors)
Sukkot is an agricultural festival where we build a temporary structure where we eat and sleep for eight days. Join us on the second night of Sukkot to decorate the community Sukkah. We'll have all the crafts material and fruit, but we encourage you to bring printouts or other decorations you would like to add. We will have a Shabbat dinner ritual service after we decorate.
